James Taylor's Loolkandura is a place which could be considered as a paradise or a heaven in the real world. Words could never explain how much of beauty you could witness when you reach the top of the hill. It is one of our most favorite hikes of all time.
The Loolkandura estate which is situated in the Kandy district, is considered as the first tea plantation in Sri Lanka after the coffee plantation here was not very much of a success.

The area is very rural and there are only a few buses. Even tuk tuks are not always available so it would be better if you could visit the place in your own vehicle if you wish for a much comfortable ride. There are tuk tuks available as well. They would give you a ride to the top of the estate if you would probably ask them to.
If you are an adventurer or a person who would love to enjoy the loveliness of every little bit of natural beauty , it would be much better to walk up the hill to reach the top of James Taylor's exquisitely beautiful estate. If you are planning to walk up the hill , the journey is somewhat tough as you have to walk about nearly 5km. The scorching sun will definitely make the journey hard for you but make sure you visit prepared.
Even though the journey up the hill is a bit tiring , the enchanting blue hills which are visible to the top of the hill , will make you refreshed in an instant as the view is just simply breathtaking. The twist of greenery and the lovely blue hills makes the Loolkandura Estate a heaven on Earth.

When you reach the top of the hill , there are many places that you could visit and observe , apart from the estate of James Taylor. James Taylor's well , James Taylor's seat , the Kondagala mountain are among the list of places that you could explore.
So personally, our favorite places among the above list was James Taylor's seat. It is a place where you could leisurely enjoy the beauty of the view of the nature. James Taylor might have had a very great time at his estate. No wonder that Loolkandura was his very first and last love.So taking about our journey to the Loolkandura Estate , it was not a very easy one as we traveled by bus all the way to Loolkandura and then walked nearly around 5 kilometers up the hill. The journey was very much exhausting but we enjoyed a lot as well. There are so many things that you could see and it is one of the most ideal places for taking wonderful photographs for your collections.
On the way up the hill , there is one of the loveliest little huts which is surrounded with a pond full of blooming lotus flowers. It is an ideal place for tired travellers to rest and refresh their minds and bodies. We could not resist the beauty of that little hut which was surrounded by a lovely pond so we decided to spend some time there as well.
After resting for a while, we started our journey through a small village which was surrounded by the estate of James Taylor. It is probably a village of estate workers who immensely contribute in maintaining the beauty and the standards of the estate. As the journey is a bit hard , we had to stop at some places continuously. But nearly within about one and a half - two hours , we reached the top. We explored the ruins of James Taylor's cottage , the well of James Taylor and also James Taylor's seat , which we would repeatedly claim as the best place among every other location at Loolkandura.

So during our climb down the hill, our water was all over and we were super tired and thirsty. But when we finally came down the hill ,we could find a shop which was located around 100 meters away from the bus halt which was situated right in front of the trail head of the mountain. We managed to walk there as well and had some soft drinks to quench the thirst.
We waited for a bus to go back to the Deltota bus stand but unfortunately the bus did not arrive on time so we had to take a tuk tuk all the way to Deltota. We would probably say that Loolkandura is a Hindu village. We could mostly see Hindu people almost everywhere.
There are places of worship such as kovils and rocks that they consider as sacred. It is one of the once in a life time experiences that you could get in Sri Lanka. The beauty of Loolkandura could never be explained through an article. You should witness it yourself.

We would highly recommend you to visit this beautiful place during your leisure time. It would be very much fun if you could take a gang who would love to walk and climb. Going up and down in a vehicle is not very much fun as you lose the chance of recognizing even the very minute aspects of nature.
It's all about experience and making memories guys! So what we would finally prefer to say is that, visit this place but make sure that you return without polluting the lovely nature. Leave it beautiful for others to witness its beauty as well.
